STEP ONE

Rhythmic Literacy Pattern 2 for Class 5

Rhythmic Literacy are movements using Rhythm that engage and support executive function skills like response inhibition, cognitive flexibility, metacognition, attention and working memory through rhythmic, coordinative, beat-based physical activities. As a whole, executive function skills are more important to academic achievement than IQ.

A child’s capacity for rhythmicity and timing helps to build the foundation for his / her emotional and intellectual development. Harmonious, rhythmic movements can be correlated with cognitive capacity. Rhythmicity is an important ability and one that we can enhance through practice and effort. We recommend you let the children explore speed (tempo) with rhythm and innovate their movement styles.
