STEP THREE

Basket Ball Shooting

Coaching points:

* Your other non-shooting hand should support the ball on the side. Bend your knees, extend your forearm and snap your wrist.

* At this point, the angle at your armpit, elbow, and wrist should be 90 degrees. Make sure you follow through with your wrist movement. Put the ball with backspin so that it floats

* If it feels natural to jump upon release, do so.

Game Play:

* Divide the students into six teams, Passers, rebounders and Shooters.

* Each team to have one ball.

* Passer passes the ball to the shooter. Shooter receives, steps, pivots and shoots.

* Rebounder collects the ball and dribbles it and joins the passers. The passer becomes the shooter and the shooter becomes the rebounder.

* Demonstrate and tell them to do a ‘Shadow’ trail. Receive a ball, step, pivot and shoot.

Next Step:

* Divide the students into four teams.

* Play a game of basketball using half courts.

* Focus on shooting.

* Try to take shots from all distances.
