Sample Dynamic Learning session for Primary

STEP THREE

Yoga session: Tadasana, Utkatasana & Uttanasana

Yoga is an extremely subtle science which focusses on bringing harmony between mind and body. The central method of yoga are physical postures known as Asanas and breathing technique known as Pranayama

All asanas taught here include breathing specifications that will help you get better at each asana.

Perform them in a slow and calm pace.

This session does not require a Yoga mat

Ensure you have ample room to perform the asanas.

Tadasana

Asana Classification: Standing – Purvatana – Symmetric  – Dynamic/Static 

Stand in SAMASTHITI, hands by the sides, chin down. 

On inhalation, raise the arms outward and upward. Simultaneously raise to toes, bringing palms together on top, elbows straight in TADASANA. Synchronise movement with the  breathing. 

On exhalation, bring arms outward and down and as arms are at shoulder level, sink heels to the ground.

Repeat dynamically as recommended.

Utkatasana

Asana Classification: Standing – Pascimatana – Symmetric – Dynamic/Static

Stand in SAMASTHITI. 

On inhale raise arms forward and up, palms together, above the head. 

On exhale, squat fully with hands still raised above the head in UTKATASANA. 

STAY for a few breaths.

On inhale let the hands lead and stand up.  

On exhale bring arms forward and down

 

Uttanasana

Asana Classification: Standing – Pascimatana – Symmetric – Dynamic/Static

Stand in SAMASTHITI. 

Inhale and raise arms forward and upward. 

On exhale bend torso down, swinging arms forward. Place palms on either side of feet, chin down, nose to knees in UTTANASANA.  

Inhale and raise arms, slowly raising torso from when arms reach ears. 

Exhale and bring hands to the sides.

Repeat as recommended.
