Sample Sports Skills session for High School
Session Components: Warm up March | Badminton Drills | Game Play: Basket Ball shooting | Physical literacy pledge
Every student must
* respond to the session activities willingly and enthusiastically
* be motivated, foster self-confidence and build competency in the skills being taught
* learn and understand the value of the movements by respecting self and others in the spatial setting.
Every student must
* demonstrate with competency the badminton drills – viz., Low serve, High serve, Airborne.
* learn the technique of shooting the ball.
* follow the rules of the game play to enhance skill.
Every student must
* be confident in relation to the various movements with the racquet
* compare and contrast the varied drills on their ability to control the shuttle
* demonstrate their ability for team play during the game.
* internalise the physical literacy pledge.
Every student must
* identify and distinguish each badminton drill along with name, form and application
* apply the knowledge gained in previous basket ball drills in the game play
* understand the importance of non-verbal cues during game play.
Classroom Interaction:
* Imagine and expand on a scenario where the drills practiced today will help during game play..
* What is the most important team coordination required during game play?
Home Challenge:
* Are you ready to take the physical literacy pledge everyday and live by it?
